The SRI provides an on-site interface between the Advanced Central Controller (ACC) and a card reader. This allows the SRI to receive the cardholder¡¯s identity information when requesting entry to a locked door, and then send that identity data to the ACC for verification. In addition, the SRI can report the door status and, on command, unlock or lock the door. When a cardholder presents an access card at the reader (connected to an SRI), the SRI interprets the encoded information and sends the data to the ACC. The ACC then checks the cardholder¡¯s validity. If the cardholder has the appropriate permission, the ACC sends a command back to the SRI: unlock the door and allow passage.

Through one reader, the SRI controls all electronic components of the protected door or barrier, including the entry reader, the request-to-exit device, the door closing and opening devices, and the door contact that monitors the door position.
The SRI allows the inputs on the main board to be supervised individually. This greatly **s security: for example, if a tamper-protected input is detected as short-circuited, the system receives an alarm signal generated by the SRI.
The SRI provides 2 programmable auxiliary inputs to monitor various aspects of the system. These can include monitoring the enclosure door, a duress switch, or a PIR motion detector.
The SRI also provides an open-collector auxiliary output, allowing connection of a buzzer, alarm lamp or other devices. The user can set these devices to be triggered when the security system is breached.
Using the ** flash memory technology, the SRI is fully upgradable and easy to program from the host to run in the desired mode. This leading-edge technology allows the SRI to be reprogrammed and reconfigured and used together with Siemens¡¯ other security products, giving the user a ** and fully scalable access control solution.
