The RK40 uses 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology and provides a powerful solution. Contactless card presentation can be combined with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to support two-factor authentication. Alternatively, a card or a PIN alone can be used, configuring the panel for single authentication.
The PIN can be verified at the access control panel, or locally through the keypad reader. When verified locally, the PIN must be programmed into the iCLASS card.
This keypad reader has a clean, structured design with an elegant curved panel. This 12-position weatherproof keypad uses discrete switches to provide good tactile feedback, and customers can optionally add audio feedback. The keypad also comes with a weatherproof silicone cover, vandal-resistant metal key caps and backlit numbering.

Data output format
This keypad reader reads standard proximity-format data from iCLASS® cards and outputs the data in encoded format. When reading MIFARE® cards, the keypad reader can be configured to output 26-bit, 32-bit, 34-bit or 40-bit Wiegand formats based on the card serial number.
The Wiegand keypad data format can be configured to transmit individual key presses as ASCII-encoded hex bits, or to buffer and transmit the PIN as an SIA 26-bit format card number (using a configurable function code).
