AdvaNTage uses the Microsoft SQL Server database, a powerful, secure relational database designed specifically for Windows NT that allows only authorized users to access database records.
The system uses the familiar Windows graphical user interface (GUI) with standard mouse and keyboard conventions, making it simple and convenient to navigate, learn and operate the AdvaNTage software. AdvaNTage provides an easy-to-use context-sensitive online help system that offers help for any component of the software.

The real-time event log displays events as they occur (using a split event-log window). The split window lets you view events happening in the lower window while scrolling through earlier events in the upper window. The event-log window can be configured (according to operator preference); event colors, the number of events displayed, and event filtering are all adjustable.

The real-time status of all points on site can be displayed on the site floor plan. As a point's status changes, the corresponding symbol dynamically changes color. In addition, buttons can be created on the floor plan and linked to another plan or used to execute a task.

The video imaging and card-making print module can capture a cardholder's/employee's photo and signature. This module can also design card templates and then print them onto cards. Access cards can include the cardholder's photo, company logo, database information, or other images and text.

AdvaNTage incorporates advanced password encryption to protect data security in the access control system. In addition, each operator (or group of operators) can only access the parts of the system they need. Partition levels ensure that all data (viewed or printed) is filtered according to the respective operator's privileges.

AdvaNTage can be configured to automatically arm or disarm when a cardholder enters or leaves. This provides security for the premises, protecting it after everyone has left.

AdvaNTage supports remote communication via dial-up telephone lines (using controllers and workstations). This allows system monitoring at remote sites without needing another expensive standalone access control system.

AdvaNTage is compatible not only with Siemens Building Technologies' entire NT series of distributed intelligent access control and elevator controllers, but also with all popular card readers.
