Intelligent Building Monitoring System
Category:Industry RegulationsDate Added:2005-9-8

Overview

In recent years, with the maturation of network technology, networked, intelligent buildings have gradually become an important factor in choosing offices and judging whether a living environment is convenient. Living in an intelligent building, people can not only quickly exchange information but also control lighting and adjust the air conditioning through the network; **over, the intelligent network platform can host a network-based video surveillance system so security staff can monitor the building's environment via computer at any time. Unlike traditional surveillance, home surveillance images can be sent over a wireless network through a network camera to the Internet, so authorized individual users can also monitor their home. The "Zhongwangxing" network video surveillance system truly leverages LAN and WAN platforms and suits both building security monitoring and personal home monitoring.
System Feature
Networked and digital¡¡
Using the community's rich fiber resources, various video services can run on it; after the video server digitizes analog video, multiple people can monitor and control simultaneously, achieving true resource sharing.
In addition, implementing a networked video surveillance system greatly reduces project difficulty; users only need to connect video to a nearby network node.
Supports wireless LAN standards
Although fiber or copper is laid as the building's backbone during planning, wired networks are still limited by cabling in some cases: large work for laying/rerouting, easy line damage, immovable nodes, etc. Especially for home users, network nodes are relatively fixed in position, and heavy work such as chasing slots should be avoided as much as possible.
Zhongwangxing's new-generation wireless surveillance system meets exactly this home-user need, freeing residents from complex wired applications and helping build a simple, convenient wireless surveillance system. A wireless system quickly widens the surveillance view; wherever you are, you can monitor your home over the Internet at any time¡ªsuch as looking after the elderly or children.
Open software and hardware platform
For an open network structure, vendors should also consider standard, open platforms when designing network video surveillance. The Zhongwangxing system uses an open B/S (Browser/Server) structure: a ** server software is installed in the ** control room, **ly handling user authentication, control-priority assignment, lens grouping, alarm control, and **ized recording/retrieval management. The client uses Microsoft's IE browser together with our client control to operate administrator-authorized functions¡ªvery easy to install and use.
Meanwhile, the Zhongwangxing building video surveillance system supports video-codec hardware of different compression formats from various makers such as AXIS and VIVOTEK, and supports control codes of PELCO P/D and well-k**n brands such as Naijie and Yaan.
The system is scalable
For building surveillance, beyond the cameras designed at the outset, additional probes may be added as requirements change¡ªe.g., in parking lots, public areas or outdoors. Besides designing redundancy, the design should fully allow arbitrary expansion¡ªadding as little hardware as possible without changing the existing system.
¡¡Zhongwangxing network video surveillance uses a modular design; when the system expands, only the video-compression module needs expanding and the system software upgrading¡ªno upgrade of the ** server or client hardware¡ªprotecting the user's existing investment.
Low installation and maintenance cost
In this regard, based on different consumption levels, we offer a series of network video surveillance products¡ªsuch as the CS-1616 series network video server for ** users, and network DVR products emphasizing hard-disk storage.
System application on the multi-network platform of intelligent buildings
Currently, the surveillance systems installed in a building fall roughly into three network environments according to user requirements:
Mainly serving internal building security and property-management needs, using the building's LAN.
To facilitate personal home monitoring, a wireless LAN can be used to reduce cabling work.
Individual users also care about being able to monitor home safety and their children from a remote place such as the office at any time, so Internet support is needed.
Below, we describe the networking approach in detail for each network environment.
Application on the LAN

Using the building's existing LAN resources, front-end cameras and alarm devices (smoke, infrared, door contacts, etc.) can connect to a video server, which after digital compression feeds video directly into the LAN. At the monitoring center, users can install the Zhongwangxing system (B/S structure); the background runs the video-server program, mainly handling on-site image reception, user login management, priority assignment, control-signal coordination, real-time image monitoring, and recording storage/retrieval/playback/backup/recovery. Security and property staff can monitor the on-site environment from their office PCs at any time; with Zhongwangxing, surveillance is not limited by time or place.
In addition, via Zhongwangxing, some public areas can be opened to owners, who¡ªafter system authorization¡ªcan view specified surveillance images. For example, owners can check sports-facility usage at home over the network to avoid unnecessary waiting; with monitoring points on above-/under-ground parking spaces, owners can see the safety of parking spaces and vehicles. In this way, property management can greatly leverage visual management, achieving a truly people-oriented management philosophy.
WLAN network environment

Internationally, many organizations and companies have launched new wireless-networking technologies¡ªsuch as microwave digital spread-spectrum, 802.11-based wireless bridges, and the popular Centrino connectivity solutions¡ªall showing that a brand-new era of wireless interconnection has arrived. With obvious advantages such as simple installation and flexible mobility, WLAN plays a leading role in smart-home networking.
For wireless-network requirements, we specially designed the CS-400XFJ and CS-400XFM single- and four-channel video servers; together with AP equipment they can quickly form a wireless video surveillance system indoors. Users install no software¡ªthey just watch in IE. When connected to the Internet, remote-surveillance advantages can also be realized.
Internet remote application
For home users or SOHO offices with few, scattered monitoring points, these users want to remotely monitor home or office safety over the Internet. This access method suits environments with simple surveillance requirements and low investment.
Intelligent digital video management platform
Given the complex surveillance requirements of intelligent buildings, providing a complete digital video management platform is especially important. Henan Lianda Communication Technology Co., Ltd., an early provider of network video application systems, has¡ªaccording to different users and network environments¡ª**ed a targeted network video surveillance system for intelligent building monitoring, with the following features:
¡¡  Based on TCP/IP networks, the system highlights distributed monitoring, **ized management, integrated functions, simple operation and high openness¡ªa highly intelligent digital video surveillance system. It integrates network monitoring, system alarms, linked devices, and temperature/humidity acquisition, serving as the solution for intelligent-building network video surveillance.
¡¡  In function, the system uses a modular design covering almost all functions a security system offers. Besides network monitoring, alarms, linked devices, temperature/humidity acquisition and electronic maps, it is also compatible with analog-surveillance equipment¡ªe.g., matrix control and network-managed DVRs¡ªallowing retrofit and upgrade of existing building surveillance systems.
¡¡  For multi-area monitoring needs, since the system is fully based on TCP/IP, it is ** free of geographic limits, fully achieving cross-region distributed monitoring and **ized management¡ªnot only monitoring the local area but also remotely calling up images.
¡¡  Users of different levels can, over the network, access sites within their authorized range at any time, truly achieving permission-based management and improving system security.
As network technology deepens, video surveillance must ** along networked, modular directions to meet intelligent buildings' demands for high stability, high reliability, and easy installation/maintenance. After long-term field use of various surveillance products, embedded-web-server-based network video surveillance, leveraging its advantages, will provide a new management means for building security management
